About Me

I am Esme and I create all the fun things on Paisley Chainsaw.  I started to make jewellery when I was 13 from a kit that my Auntie gave me for Christmas.  I always wanted to make things as a child and as I grew up I loved art and decided at College to study fashion design.  I am so glad that I did as I have learnt so much from those 3 years at college.  I did start a HND at the London College of Fashion but I was unwell with an anxiety disorder and had to return home., but then I did meet Chris who is my rock! so everything happens for a reason.

 

Up until just a few months ago I created kitsch jewellery, I have been doing this since 2003 and it no longer gave me the happiness it once did.  So I started to form a plan, I realised that I could turn my random little drawings and cartoons into wearable art.  I think that this journey may have some much darker elements than kitsch and I certainly will not be classing my little handmade drawings as trashy or brash for the kitsch market. 

 

I am not sure where my new work will lead but its already making me happy to free myself from certain things and people.

 Paisley Chainsaw is a name my husband wrote down when he was younger he had these bedsheets that had the paisley pattern all over them but he decided that they looked like chainsaws.  He liked it so much he wrote it down, he must have known :-D

I started officially as Paisley Chainsaw in 2008 on etsy, I love making jewellery and it keeps me sane and out of trouble!

 

 

Why the how to guides

I often got asked where did you get? how did you make? questions and as I am a really nice person and I love to see people grow, I decided that as I no longer created this type of jewellery, I could help others out.
